Vibration Welding Tooling

Consonic has a long history of supplying vibration welding tools for the joining of large plastic parts such as automotive instrument panels ("IP").

The above application required detailed modelling to ensure that the final production tool addressed critical outcomes such as vibration noises from the finished instrument panels, 'A surface' marking and structural strength. Due to the complexities of the shape of the weld area and the part shape a special cam system was also developed to allow the rotational movement of the tooling fixture when opening/closing.
